Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is that joyous time when our church family, along with loved ones and guests, gather around the manger to welcome the One born lowly in Bethlehem. As we celebrate Christ's birth during this a candlelight service, we are blessed with special music by our Chancel Choir and Praise Team.
As we sing traditional carols that herald the Savior's birth, our service closes with the lighting of candles. Half an hour before the service begins, there is special pre-service music.
Lessons & Carols
SUNDAY FOLLOWING CHRISTMAS
Held on the Sunday following Christmas, this is a service of praise with favorite carols. During the contemporary service, the Praise Team will lead the congregation in some special Christmas Praise music; and during the traditional service, the Chancel Choir will reprise some of their great Christmas music. Both services are framed around scripture readings that retell the story of the God-man, Jesus Christ, coming to earth.
Service of Wholeness and Healing
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds..." Psalm 147:3
Held quarterly in the Chapel, a Service of Wholeness and Healing provides an opportunity for worship, teaching, and individual prayer ministry. Each service begins with several hymns followed by readings from scripture. These readings encourage us to comprehend God's desire to bring wholeness to his people. After a time of general prayer, individuals are invited to pray privately with others.
Everything that is shared privately remains confidential. Generally, the members of the ministry team pray in pairs. After sharing, those leading will offer to anoint supplicants with oil and to lay hands on them. When appropriate, they may give words of encouragement from scripture.
Often, we have seen God work in response to those who seek His face in prayer. We encourage you to come and experience his love, peace, and power in your life.
All Saints' Day Service
Celbrated on November 1st, All Saints' Day is one of the real hidden treasurers tucked away in the Christian calendar. It is that time when we reflect on "the saints" (fellow believers) that have died in the Lord over the past year.
All Saints' Day is a time of thoughtful and joyful remembrance of those friends and loved ones in Christ who had an impact on our lives. The congregation gathers for praise, the preaching of the Word, and the Sacrament of the Lord's Super.
Thanksgiving Eve Service
There is something very special about Trinity's Thanksgiving Eve Service. First, it is informal. Second, it is full of robust music and testimony. Third, it is a time for those present to express gratitude to God in a very personal way. Our Chancel Choir and Praise Team lead and provide special music. We sing some of the old, favorite, traditional Thanksgiving hymns and hear the promises of God's Word. It is a time of heartfelt thanks to God, the giver.
World Communion Sunday
World Communion Sunday is celebrated on the first Sunday in October. It has been a tradition for nearly three quarters of a century. It is on this single day that more believers come to the Lord's Table than on any other Sunday of the year. Designated by our Missions Team a special offering is given on this day.
It is a meaningful experience in Christ as we break bread, lift up the cup, and celebrate God's wondrous love for the whole world.
Special Services
Lent
& Holy Week
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday, the seventh Wednesday before Easter, is the first day of Lent.
This service, a rich tradition that the Trinity Church family has come to love, derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of repentance.
Our congregation gathers for praise, the preaching of the Word, and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. As we begin our Lenten journey, it is a meaningful experience for those who attend.
Palm Sunday
Our Holy Week journey begins with special music at both services. The children and the choir (the praise team at the contemporary service) process with joy and song, remembering Christ's triumphant entry to Jerusalem.
Maundy Thursday & Holy Communion
Traditionally, Maundy Thursday is a solemn tenebrae service using candles. The word tenebrae is Latin for "darkness" or "shadows." The element of darkness represents the pain and suffering of Christ's crucifixion. The gradual extinguishing of the candles is one of the most conspicuous features of the service. Only a single candle, a symbol of our Lord, remains. As the sanctuary becomes darker, we reflect on the emotional and physical pain that was very real for Jesus. At the end of the service, the Christ candle is extinguished, and the congregation departs in darkness.
The purpose of the service is to recreate the betrayal, the abandonment, and the agony of Christ's suffering. It is left unfinished, because the story isn't over until Easter (Resurrection) Sunday.
Holy Communion -The Last Supper- is served during this service.
Good Friday Service
Joint Service With Other Sister Churches
The tradition of a joint Good Friday service with sister churches in the Venice area was started in 1999. This is a service is in remembrance of our Lord's sacrifice. It is our time to pause and behold the cross as we travel to the empty tomb and the Risen Savior.
Participating churches take turns hosting.
Easter Sunday
Sunrise Service at 6:30am
The Sunrise Service is held in the Chapel. The traditional Easter hymns and special music by soloists enhance the Easter message. Following the service, a hot meal is served in the Community Life Center.
Contemporary Service at 9am & Traditional Worship at 10:45am
Through special music, reading of Scripture, and preaching of the Word, we come together to celebrate the joy of Christ's resurrection.
